The purpose of energy supplements is to assist you in performing at your peak for longer than you normally would.
Energy supplements are normally de rigueur for long-distance cyclists and triathletes, athletes racing and/ or something to take if you think you’re going to bonk. Or you’ve already bonked and you just need to get home.
Normally a combination of carbohydrates, electrolytes, sugar and protein, the ingredients and flavours of energy supplements can be extremely varied. Energy supplements are usually available in the form of drinks, power bars, gels and powders.
