Go out for a ride and you’re bound to see a Giant bike on your travels. Founded in the early 70s, Giant and bike riding go hand-in-hand. And although Giant remains one of the most popular brands in the biking world, not everyone will know that this is a brand that was started by a bunch of brains (engineers, in fact).
So armed with this knowledge, it probably therefore comes as no surprise to hear that Giant has always been about pushing the bar of innovation and technology.
The TCR SLR 1 is a good case in point…
It’s made from ALUXX SLR-grade aluminium, which is basically Giant’s top-of-the-range aluminium option. ALUXX SLR has the highest strength-to-weight ratio and most advanced forming methods and unique welding techniques on offer by Giant.
The result? 20 per cent thinner frame tubing walls that deliver a superlight frame that still retains stiffness and strength, features that are articulated by Giant’s compact road geometry.
What’s that? In short, those switched-on engineers recognised that smaller triangles create stiffer, smaller bikes. So they set about sloping down the toptube from the headtube, and in doing so created a bike frame of smaller triangles, and therefore an even stronger, stiffer bike.
This bike is roaring to go. Take it at top speeds or get it going in a race – it’ll love you for it!
The Giant TCR SLR also comes with Shimano Ultegra 11-speed componentry, a Giant P-SL1 Wheel System with durable precision Swiss hub internals, and an advanced composite fork with OverDrive steerer (for sharp handling).
