Braking Info on Rotors and Discs
Fitted to bike wheel hubs, bike brake rotors/discs tend to be made from stainless steel. Used along with brake pads and brake callipers, rotors complete the brake system. The brake callipers house the brake pads that squeeze the rotor/disc when the brake lever is squeezed, thus slowing down the bike. Brake rotors are often found on high-end mountain bikes as well as some hybrid and touring bikes.
There is a growing trend to opt for brake rotors/discs in different shapes and/or colours so as to personalise and accessorise your bike.
