Keeping Up Your Fluids – The Lowdown on Hydration Systems
Otherwise referred to as a hydration pack, hydration systems comprise a backpack or waist pack in which is placed a ‘bladder’, which is essentially a vessel for water/ sports fluids. A hose is connected to the bladder, enabling the rider to drink when they want without using their hands. Hoses normally come with a ‘bite valve’ so that when the rider bites down, the valve is released. This helps prevent any spillage when not riding.
