Throwing Light On… Lights

In New Zealand, bike lights must be fixed to a bike and switched on if riding ‘during the hours of darkness’.

The variety of bike lights is seemingly endless. You can opt for white lights for the front of a bike, and flashing red lights for the rear. Some lights are battery operated whilst others are now rechargeable, making it easy for you to just plug them in when you’re at the computer so they’re ready to roll next time you head out in the dark.

Consider having a spare and fully charged ‘back up’ bike light in your bike canister (or with your puncture repair kit) so that if you are caught short, you can at least be caught short riding legally!
