The name Mavic is synonymous with wheels, rims and tyres, but the product range also extends to computers, footwear, pedals and apparel. Now owned by the French ski manufacturer Salomon, the name Mavic is originally an acronym for Manufacture d'Articles Vélocipédiques Idoux et Chanel, and was founded by Charles Idoux and Lucien Chanel.
