Dual Suspension Mountain Bike Overview

Dual suspension mountain bikes are almost identical to hard tail and rigid mountain bikes except dual suspension mountain bikes have an additional rear shock absorber. The additional suspension allows dual suspension mountain bikes to fly down hills absorbing all impacts whilst keeping their centre of gravity low to the ground for an impressively fast yet smooth ride. Just like standard mountain bikes dual suspension mountain bikes have knobbed tyres, superb breaks and a strong, rigid frame built for off-road. If your serious about your mountain biking then there is no other choice, a dual suspension bike is a must have!

On paved roads dual suspension mountain bikes are not as efficient as rigid or hard tail bikes due to the softer suspension.

Characteristics of Dual Suspension Mountain Bikes

  • Strong frames.
  • Suspension in the front forks as well in the rear swing arm.
  • Ideal for serious off road and down hill Mtb riding.
  • Dual suspension Mtn bikes are not well suited for general road riding as the suspension absorbs a percentage of the power of each pedal and therefore makes it less efficient on the road.
