The Evolution of Northwave
Back in the 1980s Northwood began life actually manufacturing shoes for other companies. It was around this period that snowboarding really started to take off, and Northwood gravitated into this area, manufacturing snowboard boots for snowboard companies.
This eventually led to the business creating its own line of snow boots. This organic evolution continued and in the early 1990s, Northwave turned its attention to the cycling world, creating – of course – cycling shoes. The company was founded by Gianni Piva in Italy and continues strong to this day.
