ICYMI - Pop-up Store Interview with Michael Hepburn

January 21, 2016

Orica-GreenEDGE rider Michael Hepburn dropped into the BikeExchange pop-up store at the Tour Down Under Village for a chat following a tough Stage 2 of the Santos Tour Down Under.

The team had a mixed bag on Stage 2 with Simon Gerrans picking up valuable seconds at the intermediate sprint of the day, but Gerro and Daryl Impey both crashed within sight of the finishing line, ruining any chance the team had at another stage victory.

Michael talks about one of the most popular men in the peloton Adam Hansen, and the watchful eye they kept on him as he is "not a guy you want to give too much room to in the breakaway."

"We decided that two, two and a half minutes was enough time. Otherwise we might never see him again"

Michael went on to describe his strongman efforts on Stage 1 where he drove the peloton for the majority of the race with little to no help. He also talked about his Rio Olympic ambitions on the track, and how he juggles that with racing on the road in Europe.

We get another great insight into the final 3km's a stage and take a trip back in time to Michael's first ever bike race.

Sit back and enjoy our pop-up store interview of the Tour Down Under with the Orica-GreenEDGE team.
