2014 Tour de France Trip with Solo Bike

Tour de France 2014 Trip Highlights • Cycling the legendary Pyrenees climbs of Tourmalet, Col d’Aubisque, Hautacam, Col d’Aspin, and Pla d’Adet • Riding in sunny Provence including the mythical Mont Ventoux • Experiencing the best of the Tour mountain stages in the heart of the Pyrenees • The finish and celebrations in Paris

If there is one grand tour you need to see up close and experience it has to be the Tour de France. The build-up, atmosphere, and excitement the tour offers - even before the riders come through, is phenomenal. Now add a bike of your own and the chance to ride parts of the stages at your own pace, stopping for a coffee or two knowing you will have support from the front and back of the pack. Also add in a small group of like-minded riders, experienced group leaders and wonderful boutique style accommodation.

In 2014 Solo Bike Tours will join the tour in Provence, staying in Roussillon, recognised as being one of the most beautiful villages in France. Riders will have the opportunity to tackle the mighty Ventoux before we watch Stage 15 – Tallard to Nimes. From Provence the group will head to where the real action takes place – The Pyrenees! Staying in the prime location of Luz St Sauveur, this beautifully positioned village is situated by the rushing river and encircled by the areas highest mountain peaks at the base of the mighty Tourmalet capturing the best of the Pyrenees. Riders will get the chance to climb the legendary Tourmalet along with Luz-Ardiden, also one of the highlight climbs of the Pyrenees. Its steep ramps, hairpin bends, and grand panoramic views provide both a challenge and some of the areas best natural surrounds. From the Pyrenees we head to the final destination of the tour – Paris.

The Solo Bike Tours philosophy is small groups and spending quality time in each location. They don’t rush from one stage to the next. You may see fewer stages than other big tour groups but you will experience more of the culture of the places you will visit along with the time to explore the back roads and enjoy crowd-free rides.
