Introducing the Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race

OK France is a long way to go for a bike race, no matter how brilliant. But Australia isn't that far away in the grand scheme of things...! It might just be the perfect place to go for a coastal summer ride, perhaps...?

We were pumped to see World Champion and Tour de France winner Cadel Evans and Victorian Premier Dr. Denis Napthine unveil plans for a new cycling event on the world calendar.

The ‘Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race’ will be held on 31 January – 01 February 2015. It takes its inspiration from the European Spring Classics (sensational) and promises to be huge for cycling down under.

The course will start in Geelong and then weave its way through Barwon Heads (Cadel’s Aussie home base), Thirteenth Beach, Torquay, Bells Beach and then finish back on the Waterfront in Geelong.

There will be two separate elite races – a women’s and a men’s on the Sunday – as well as a People’s Ride on the Saturday.

Hhhmmmm... Maybe a trip over for Tour Down Under followed by this, and you've got yourself a pretty impressive summer cycling calendar locked in!

In the meantime, BikeExchange promises to keep you up to speed with any news around this new event.
