BikeExchange contributor and one half of the Commonaeros Bret takes us through his custom built Kona Big Kahuna.
Bret practically lives on the bike competing in cross country, enduro and occasionally downhill mountain biking. He also clocks endless kms riding up and down mountains on his Lapierre Aircode and has recently turned his hand to Cx racing.
Bret started with a Kona Big Kahuna frame and then built the bike up with hand picked pieces selected for their performance benefits, light weight and durability. The drive train is the revolutionary SRAM XX1, which fits nicely with the Mavic Crossmax wheel set that Bret describes as practically 'bullet proof'.
The most outrageous feature of the bike is the negative 17 stem and lack of dust cap enabling the front to get low low low.
