Meet Our Content Guy and His Scott Speedster 50

September 10, 2015

Born and bred in Wellington, Pete could often be found capitalising on New Zealand’s topography, perfect for mountain biking. As he grew up, he discovered the benefits of riding as a form of commuting: “a good way to stay relatively healthy without having to try too hard”.

An avid traveller, Pete was drawn across the Tasman to Melbourne and settled there before being drawn across the world. Upon returning to Melbourne after a year of travel in Europe, Japan, and China, he needed a bike. Normally a fan of flat-bar setups, Pete decided to try a road bike and chose a Scott Speedster 50.

The Speedster’s, um, speed pleasantly surprised Pete. He shaved minutes off his commute to and from work and has even been convinced to don Lycra with the 160km Contact Lake Taupo Cycle Challenge in his sights.

Pete speaks a universal truth when he muses that, “the more bikes you try, the more you want to own”. He’s happy with his entry-level Speedster, but has grand plans for upgrades. For now, though, it’s perfect for pre-race training. Like a Shaolin monk, he will shed his training weight and, on race-day, he will be light and fast.
